When we celebrate what exactly are we celebrating? We are often marking an event: a birthday, marriage or whatever, yes; but primarily, we are rejoicing in our friends and relationships. We want to share a happy experience with them. Drinking ourselves to stupidity in deafening & expensive clubs can often fail to hit the spot.
But – fret ye not!!! An alternative has reached my ears. A wonderful, wonderful alternative. Maybe it won’t appeal to everyone, but it sounds absolutely FANTASTIC to me. It’s all authentic stuff. Some Middle Eastern people met here in England. Yaron is a professional drummer, his wife, Orit, a professional seasoned cook, and their friend is a professional belly dancer and teacher. They have been going to these kinds of parties since childhood. Their service is to offer you a whole evening with a magical Middle Eastern atmosphere. They transform your place, or venue, into a colourful ‘harem’ with cushions and rugs, drapes, music – the lot! Guests are supplied with exotic ‘fancy dress’, from the Middle East. You are served absolutely delicious totally nutritious Middle Eastern vegetarian food whilst lolling about on cushions, enjoy a belly dance show and then have the chance to learn how to move like that in a fun lesson. Each person is given a drum and taught how to drum Arabian rhythms in a ‘drum circle’. The rest of the night is spent in belly dance & drumming to the sounds of Arabian music….a perfect Arabian Night. A unique evening. And, you never know when some belly dancing skills might come in handy!
